Portdownie Masterplan Approval
21.05.11 Residential led mixed use masterplan next to Falkirk Wheel gains Planning Approval
Our proposals for the Portdownie Masterplan for British Waterways [Scotland] and Falkirk Council have recently won planning approval, subject to conditions. This is a major urban regeneration project along the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal incorporating residential, commercial and leisure development.
This is a very exciting and ambitious project which aims to create a unique canal side community adjacent to major historical and cultural landmarks such as The Falkirk Wheel, The Antonine Wall and of course the canal itself which is an Ancient Scheduled Monument.
Although the master plan is residentially led, the proposals include a civic ‘hub’ which will contain live/work units, hotel, retail and leisure accommodation all arranged around a central leisure craft marina.
