Michael Laird Architects (MLA) are seeking to employ an enthusiastic Architect and Architectural Technologist to support our busy architectural practice, with both roles being based in our Edinburgh Office.

Position: Architect

We are looking for a talented Architect to join our Edinburgh office.

Applicants should have at least at least two years post-Part III experience with strong technical ability.

Job Roles & Responsibilities;

  • Preparation of briefs and specifications
  • 3-D modelling
  • Meeting and managing client requirements and expectations
  • Developing and maintaining effective client relationships
  • Effective organisation & management of projects and contracts
  • Liaising effectively with directors, staff, project teams, clients and intermediaries
  • Working effectively as a member of a project team
  • Technical understanding of projects and compliance legislation
  • Committing to Company’s professional ethos and culture
  • Adhering to Company policies and procedures

Technical skills required;

  • AutoCAD – essential
  • Revit/ BIM – essential
  • MS Office – word, ppt, excel – essential
  • Adobe Creative Suite / Cloud – InDesign, Photoshop etc – an advantage
  • Sketch up – an advantage
  • Business management systems – Union Square – an advantage

Candidates should preferably demonstrate;

  • Professional (technical) firm experience
  • Team player with a collegiate approach to design
  • Excellent communication skills both externally and internally – written and verbal
  • Focused on excellent service delivery
  • Numerate
  • Committed, reliable and trustworthy
  • Appropriate professional qualifications

 

Position: Architectural Technician/Technologist

We are looking for an Architectural Technician/Technologist with hands-on, project-based experience to join our Edinburgh office.

Applicants should have at least at least four years’ experience with strong technical ability.

Job Roles & Responsibilities;

  • Preparation of briefs and specifications
  • 3-D modelling
  • Meeting and managing client requirements and expectations
  • Effective organisation & management of projects
  • Liaising effectively with directors, staff, project teams, clients and intermediaries
  • Working effectively as a member of a project team
